ATTENTION::::: This weekend you will need:
For Friday:
Casual but nice clothes that are suitable for both being in the art museum, and walking around outside. No heels, no shorts, no dresses.
Saturday:
PAX Tshirt, long pants or LONG shorts, flat shoes, swimsuit/swimming clothes if you want to swim in the hotel pool.
Sunday:
Casual clothes in the morning, 'nice' outfit for presenting at the United Nations Association function - preferably a modest dress or dress slacks.
You should have $25 cash for meals and such - more if you plan on shopping at museum gift shops or anywhere else.
Sleeping clothes and your hygienic products for two nights, three days. We will be all together in one van -- so no stinky people allowed! Everyone will be expected to shower daily - short showers, remembering that there will be 10 of us sharing the facilities.
We are going to have a great time!!!
In the morning after I meet you all, we are going to the Birmingham Museum of Art, where we will meet Asiya. We will explore the museum for a short while, then we are going to an event at the Vulcan Park and to take some photos there at the statue, and to eat some fancy little food at a meeting there. From there, we drive to Tuscaloosa, where we will go to drop off our blow-up beds at the house we will be staying the night at. We go from there to meet the president of the University of Alabama International Relations Club who is giving us a tour of the campus. We will stay and eat dinner in Tuscaloosa with the club officers. We will then go back to the house. In the morning, we will go to the Westervelt American Art museum, have lunch, and then back to UA campus (which will be crazy with traffic for the first 'home' football game) and we will locate our group of UA students at their 'International Day of Peace' tent. We will stay with them from 2 - 3:30. We will return to Birmingham and check into our hotel (Drury Inn and suites Hwy 280). We will grab some dinner, and then come back and swim at the pool. Sunday morning - we will meet and prepare more for your presentations and go over our mandatory work and at about 1 we will meet the parents for lunch, moving on to the United Nations meeting/reception for YOU
